Rich Butterscotch Bars
Sweet, easy, and yummy!
Ingredients
- 1 lb brown sugar (about 2 ⅓ cups, packed)
- 1 C softened butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 C all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 C coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°
- In saucepan, melt butter and sugar together. Once sugar is completely dissolved, remove and allow to cool until lukewarm.
- Once buttar and sugar mixture is cooled enough to not cook the eggs, add them to the mixutree and beat thoroughly.
- In separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Once mixed, add to butter and sugar mixture. Incorporate thoroughly.
- Stir in walnuts (chopped).
- Pour into a 9x13 baking dish*.
- Bake for 25 minutes on center rack.
- Bars are done with they are a delicate brown and a slight dent is left when you tap the top lightly with your finger tip.
- Remove dish from oven. Allow to cool a bit. Cut into bars while still warm.
Notes
*Original instructions call for a 10x15 baking dish.
