How to Make Bachelor’s Stew
Ingredients
- 2 lb beef chuck
- ⅓ Cup bread crumbs, dry
- 1 tsp salt
- ⅛ tsp pepper
- 1 large onion
- 3 large carrots
- 4 stalks celery
- 1 tsp basil
- ⅓ Cup quick-cooking tapioca
- 1 4 oz can sliced mushrooms, drained
- 1 tsp Kitchen Bouquet
- 2 10¾ oz cans condensed tomato soup
- 1 Cup beef broth (or water)
Instructions
- Cut beef into 1 - 2-inch cubes
- Cut onion into eighths
- Wash, pare and split carrots lengthwise. Then cut into 4-inch strips
- Wash celery and cut into 1-inch pieces
- In large bowl, mix bread crumbs with salt, and pepper. Mix in beef cubes
- Pour mixture into slow cooker
- Add all remaining ingredients and mix well
- Cover and cook
- Low Setting: 10-12 hours
- High Setting: 3-5 hours
