The recipe calls for 1 can coconut. I assume that when this recipe was developed, something like Baker’s Southern-Style Canned Coconut or the like was available. Which appears to just be canned, flaked coconut. Baker’s still makes coconut – but it is now available in a bag as opposed to a can.

Coconut Caramel Pie Recipe
Coconut Caramel Pie
- 2 large eggs
- ½ Cup granulated sugar
- 1 7 oz bag* coconut
- 1 ½ Cup Karo Syrup
- ½ tsp salt
- Preheat oven to 375°
- Mix together, eggs, sugar and syrup
- add coconut and salt. Combine thoroughly
- Pour into unbaked 9-inch pie crust
- Bake 35 minutes
