Ingredients

lb
brown sugar (about 2 ⅓ cups, packed)
1
C
softened butter
2
large
eggs
2
C
all-purpose flour
1
tsp.
baking powder
½
tsp.
salt
1
C
coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°
In saucepan, melt butter and sugar together. Once sugar is completely dissolved, remove and allow to cool until lukewarm.
Once buttar and sugar mixture is cooled enough to not cook the eggs, add them to the mixutree and beat thoroughly.
In separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Once mixed, add to butter and sugar mixture. Incorporate thoroughly.
Stir in walnuts (chopped).
Pour into a 9x13 baking dish*.
Bake for 25 minutes on center rack.
Bars are done with they are a delicate brown and a slight dent is left when you tap the top lightly with your finger tip.
Remove dish from oven. Allow to cool a bit. Cut into bars while still warm.

*Original instructions call for a 10x15 baking dish.
